DPM Installation Failed – Event ID 1042

Recently, I ran into a DPM installation issue. When I looked at the Event log, I had an event ID 1042. This is normally related to MSI installer issue. This is what I did to complete the DPM installation:

  1. Opened the Temp folder. (c:\Users\Administrators\AppData\Local\2\DPMTemp)·
  2. Deleted the Dpmxxx.tmp file·
  3. Reran the DPM install.
