How much does an email cost?

Today I was sitting in my office and sending a few "Hi" emails to few people. For some reason I started thinking about this question "How much does each "Hi" cost my company?" If you send this "Hi" by post, it will cost at least 39 cents. Has anyone else thought about this before? Just curious ....a geek curiosity :- )
