Monitoring DPM using Microsoft Operations Manager

The following three high level steps are involved in monitoring DPM using Microsoft Operations Manager. 

• Install the SCOM agent.
• Initiate monitoring.
• Publish existing DPM alerts to SCOM

When SCOM begins monitoring the DPM server, alerts that already existed on the DPM server before the SCOM agent was deployed are not automatically imported into SCOM.  If you want to view the existing alerts in SCOM, you need to publish the existing alerts by using the following method:

1. From the Agent tab, select the protected server
2. In the Actions pane, select Options. 
3. In the Alert Publishing tab, select Publish Active Alerts option

You will see all the active alerts in the DPM Alerts event log.  The SCOM agent then forward these alerts to the SCOM Management Server.
